 TREASURE HOUSE’S READING BUGSUMMER READING PROGRAM 2012
If Dr. Seuss were to describe it, he would call it unifunultatistic. Because we have made sure that it is unique, fun, the ultimate and fantastic! Read what we have lined up for you and decide for yourself.
At Treasure House, we have a little something for children of all ages and their parents too! Hundreds of New Books, Recommended Reading Lists, Parent information sessions, Very Special Book clubs, Fun and motivating activities, stimulating Author interaction sessions, Reading Log Books, Certificates and more
 How to enroll
Registrations at Treasure House start from Apr15  and go on till May 15.
The kick-off for the SRP is on Apr 15th at 11 am with a musical story session by by renowned storyteller Deepa Kiran.
If you are already a member, SRP is free if not you could sign up for the SUMMER READING BUG.

For Ages Baby - 5
* BUMBLE BEE PARENT INFORMATION WORKSHOP: 2 X 45 min sessions, each handling various topics. (Free for Mbrs, 250/session for Non-Mbrs)
 
For Ages 6 - 9
* BUTTERFLIES BOOK CLUB - for the self-motivated reader, 6 – 9 years old, 4 sessions (Free and open only to members)
* MAKE YOUR READING BLOSSOM - reading motivation and skills workshop, 6- 9 year old children, 5 sessions (1200 Mbr, 1500 Non-Mbr)

* MYTHOLOGY BOOK CLUB - 4 sessions (800 Mbr, 1000 Nmbr)
* INVENTIONS BOOK CLUB - 4 sessions (800 Mbr, 1000 Nmbr)
 
About the Various Sessions
(1)BUMBLE BEE PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS
HOW TO RAISE A READER
This program is specially designed for children birth to 5 yrs of age and their families.
The book titles are chosen in adherence to the six early literacy skills that foster reading habit in young children.
The workshops are targeted towards parents and care providers.
Briefly goes over the importance of reading, the six early-literacy skills, why we are reading what we are reading, how to read with young children - tips and techniques.
 
(2) THE BUTTERFLIES BOOK CLUB
For 6 - 9 year old child who is naturally inclined to reading.
The book titles are chosen to encourage both beginner readers and intermediate level readers.
The registrants will meet, as a group, weekly, with a TreasureHouse reading counsellor.
The goal of the program is to help young audience expand their field of vision with respect to choosing books by making them aware of genres and themes.
Resident author, poet, film editor and much more.... Sridala Swami will do a author reading and a fun activity with children.
Sandhya Rao, editor extraordinaire of Tulika Book Publishers will interact with the participants through Skype
 
(3) MAKE YOUR READING BLOSSOM
A workshop for the 6 - 9 year old reluctant reader.
The registrants will meet, as a group, weekly, with a TreasureHouse reading counsellor.
Through fun activities, we will work together on the five essential reading skills as recommended by the National Reading Panel(http://www.nationalreadingpanel.org/).
 
(4)MYTHOLOGY BOOK CLUB will talk about
*World mythology
*How stories came to be
*Compare elements from mythology from throughout the world.
Devdutt Pattanaik(Author of FUN IN DEVLOK SERIES) and Anu Kumar(author of MYTHQUEST SERIES) will interact with the children through Skype.
 
(5) INVENTIONS Book Club
*Will discuss popular fiction based on inventions.
*A field trip to Salar Jung and we will have a session there, talking about the clock, gears etc.
*Children will be encouraged to come up with their own inventions using day to day materials.
